Delicious Homemade Popcorn!

Here is our favourite and the most easiest snack (after fruit of course) homemade popcorn! Here’s how we make it:


1 cup popcorn

1-2 tablespoons of olive oil (we love using Santa Marta olive oil)

1-2 tablespoons of butter

1 teaspoon of salt 

Pepper (optional)


  1. Put the olive oil, butter and salt in a pot and allow it to melt.
  2. Add popcorn and give it a little shake up. Try to ensure there is only one layer of popcorn seeds.
  3. THE SECRET!  When you put the lid on the pot - leave a gap so it’s slightly open. Not big enough that popcorn can pop out the top though. By letting air in the pot it helps stop the popcorn from going soggy.  
  4. Cook on high and turn off once popping slows right down. Take the lid off once popping has stopped.
  5. Enjoy with friends and family. 

This recipe makes a lot of popcorn, so if you don’t need lots you may want to half the recipe. We usually eat some and then put the rest in a container and use it for lunches, play dates, snacks etc.
