Antiperspirants deodorants are used to minimise sweat and to prevent unwanted underarm smells. The main issue with using antiperspirants is the fact that they use aluminium salts, such as aluminium chlorohydrate and aluminium chloride, which prevent sweating by blocking the sweat glands. Our bodies are made to sweat therefore it can be unhealthy for it if we skip this and mess with a natural bodily function like sweating. To avoid aluminium, many people turn to natural deodorants which have safer ingredients. Natural deodorants are not meant to prevent sweating as antiperspirants do. Their main task is to prevent unpleasant body odour.
We have created the following products that effectively neutralise odour without the need for harmful chemicals or sweat blockers. This way your body can continue to do what it needs to do naturally.
BENTONITE CLAY ARMPIT DETOX
While most people transition from a commercial/antiperspirant deodorant to natural deodorant with no issues, some people experience a 'detox period'. An armpit detox is a great way to help your body adapt to a natural deodorant.
As per instructions on the sachet mix clay with apple cider vinegar or coconut oil till it makes a thick paste. Spread in an even layer over the armpits and allow to sit for 5-20 minutes. Remove in the shower or with a warm flannel. f you don't require an armpit detox, you can also use this clay sachet for a face mask. Mix bentonite powder with water to make a thick paste and apply it to the face. Leave for 10-15 minutes and then remove with a warm flannel.
DEODORANT SPRITZ 50mL:
We like to apply the Earthyma natural deodorant balm in the morning and then take the spritz along with us during the day in our bag and apply as required.
INGREDIENTS: Distilled water, aloe vera, witch hazel *glycerine, magnesium oil, solubiliser, essential oils (lavender, grapefruit and neroli), together with benzyl alcohol & dehydroacetic acid (Ecocert preservatives). *Palm oil free ingredient.
DEODORANT PASTE 50mL:
Applying this deodorant balm is just like moisturising your armpits. Use a spatula or clean fingertips and gently rub a small amount into your armpits until it melts and dissolves.
INGREDIENTS: coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, magnesium powder, arrowroot powder, diatomaceous earth, bentonite clay, camellia oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil, beeswax and a blend of essential oils (lime, neroli & grapefruit).
STORAGE AND EXPIRY: Due to the nature of this product, it is important to keep it in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight. If the product becomes warm it will soften and melt. You may find in summer if this happens, the shea butter will crystallise. It is still safe to use, however, the consistency is not ideal.
Ensure you have clean, dry hands when using the balm or use a spoon or spatula to remove it from the jar. It’s very important not to get water into the balm when you are using it as this will introduce contaminants. It is recommended to use this product within 6 months of purchase in winter and within 3 months in summer.
WHY WE HAVE REMOVED BICARB SODA FROM OUR DEODORANT: Bicarb soda has a PH of 8, the average PH of our skin is on average between 4.7 and 5.7. Deodorant is a leave-on product that we apply to highly active sweat glands under our armpits. Therefore we believe this could be why the extended use of bicarb in deodorant causes stress and damage to some peoples armpits. Feel free to contact us directly to discuss this more.
